Biography

Glen Dowell is the Samuel C. Johnson Professor of Sustainable Global Enterprise and the Senior Director of MBA and MPS Programs at the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University. His research focuses on corporate sustainability with a particular emphasis on firm environmental performance. Recent projects have investigated the effect of local demographic factors on changes in pollution levels and the role of corporate mergers and acquisitions in facilitating changes in facility environmental performance. He has also explored the relative influence of financial returns on the disruption of commercial adoption of energy savings initiatives. Dowell's research has been published in prestigious journals including Management Science, Organization Studies, Advances in Strategic Management, Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Journal of Management, Industrial and Corporate Change, Journal of Business Ethics, and Administrative Science Quarterly. He serves on the editorial board of the Strategic Management Journal and represents Cornell on the board of the Alliance for Research on Corporate Sustainability. Additionally, Dowell teaches Strategies for Sustainability across multiple programs at the Johnson School. He is a faculty affiliate at the Center for Sustainable Global Enterprise and a senior fellow at the Atkinson Center for a Sustainable Future.
