Biography

Glen Wash Ivanovic is a Senior Lecturer at the Manchester School of Architecture, where he leads the Design Studio MA Architecture Urbanism and the Contextual Urbanism Laboratory. He received both his Master’s and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Tokyo, supported by the Monbukagakusho Scholarship. His professional background includes public-sector city planning, notably working with Pritzker Prize laureate Fumihiko Maki. Research interests center on developing methodologies for information visualization applied to place-based architectural design, with a particular emphasis on the mapping and representation of architectural proxemics. His methodologies have been tested in diverse contexts including Valparaíso, Tokyo, Fukuoka, Shanghai, and rural China. Glen is also a member of the Cross-Cultural Research Architecture Collective (CRAC), which focuses on collaborative research around Asian notions of space. His prior academic positions include roles at the University of Tokyo, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, and Fukuoka University, where he has also delivered guest lectures across Asia, Europe, and the United States.
