Dr. Glenda Mason

Biography

Glenda Mason is an Instructor in Audiology & Speech Sciences at the University of British Columbia (UBC), specializing in clinical experience in speech-language pathology (SLP). Her extensive career, primarily focusing on preschool and school-aged children, addresses various communication disorders and emphasizes the importance of engaging caregivers and teachers in therapeutic processes. She has been a strong advocate for collaborative client-centered approaches and evidence-based practice in her field. Throughout her career, she has actively participated in numerous committees for SLP professional associations at both provincial and national levels. Her doctoral research centered around phonology, particularly how school-aged children produce multisyllabic words and their relationship to literacy. This work involved developing metrics to quantify the accuracy of multisyllabic word production through computerized scoring and analysis methods. Alongside her teaching role, she promotes innovative approaches to learning by enhancing case-based learning opportunities and supporting blended instruction for students across the metro Vancouver area.
