Biography

Dr. Glenn Radice received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Carnegie Mellon University and a PhD in Genetics and Development from Columbia University. After completing postdoctoral training in cell biology at Kyoto University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he joined the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, where he established his independent research program. Currently, Dr. Radice is a faculty member at Brown University. His work focuses on understanding the relationship between cardiac mechanics, function, and growth in normal and diseased hearts. His ongoing research emphasizes the identification of N-cadherin and its interaction with the underlying cytoskeleton to transmit force and activate signaling events that control myocyte proliferation. By manipulating these signaling pathways using small molecule inhibitors, he aims to develop novel therapeutic strategies for stimulating myocyte division to repair injured hearts. The major project in his lab investigates the defects in intercellular adhesion signaling that lead to heart disease, particularly arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy. Dr. Radice employs genetically modified animal models to explore the molecular mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of heart disease, working to elucidate the genotype-phenotype relationship pertinent to human disease.
