Dr. Glenn Withers

Biography

Glenn Withers is an Emeritus Professor of Economics at the Crawford School of Public Policy and founding CEO of Universities Australia. He has previously held the role of Professor of Public Policy at the Australian National University and has contributed significantly to academic discourse as a Monash graduate with a PhD from Harvard. Withers has held multiple academic positions both in Australia and internationally at institutions such as Harvard and Cambridge. He is a distinguished fellow and past president of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia, as well as a member of the Australian Council of Learned Academies. With a focus on applied economics and public policy, he has produced numerous books and academic papers, and advised the Australian government on critical issues surrounding immigration, infrastructure financing, and population issues. In his role as a board member for several organizations, including CEDA and the Global Development Learning Network, he continues to influence policy both domestically and internationally. Withers has also been recognized with the title of Officer of the Order of Australia for his contributions to economics and governance.
