Dr. Gloria Davies

Biography

Gloria Davies conducts research in the areas of Chinese intellectual literary history from the 1890s to the present, contemporary Chinese thought, comparative literature and critical theory, and studies of cultural flows in the digital age. She has been trained in Sinology at the Australian National University and has expertise in literary theory and modern Chinese literature, evidenced by her experience as a graduate student at the University of Melbourne. Gloria has extensive experience in developing interdisciplinary inter-faculty collaborative projects and is a member of the Literature Research Unit in the Faculty of Arts at Monash University. She also serves as the Adjunct Director of the Australian Centre of China in the World, which is based at the Australian National University. her expertise aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals established in 2015, focusing on issues such as global poverty and the protection of the planet. Notably, her research includes keywords relating to modern Chinese thought, Chinese intellectual politics, and the literary and cultural theories relevant to modern and contemporary Chinese literature, as well as the impact of digital media in China and Chinese cultural studies.
