Gloria González-López holds the C.B. Smith Sr. Centennial Chair # 1 in US-Mexico Relations and is a Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Texas at Austin, where she has been employed since 2002. She received her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Southern California in 2000. She was also a UC President’s Postdoctoral Fellow at UC Berkeley, affiliated with the Department of Sociology from 2000 to 2002. González-López also has training as a couple family therapist and has worked with Latina immigrant women affected by sexual violence. In addition to her academic role, she serves as a consultant for professionals in sexual violence prevention and treatment.
