Godela Weiss-Sussex is a Professor of German Literature at the University of Cambridge, specializing in women’s writing and the works of German-Jewish writers produced in exile during the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Her research explores translingual literary production and examines themes of belonging and futurity in postmigrant writing. Currently, Weiss-Sussex focuses on contemporary German-Jewish writing and postmigrant cultural production, including the narratives surrounding German-Jewish family novels in the 20th and 21st centuries. Recent publications include Georg Hermann's 'Die daheim blieben', edited by Weiss-Sussex, and 'Contested Communities: Minor, Minority Small Literatures in Europe', co-edited with Kate Averis and Margaret Littler. She has also worked on 'Rethinking Minor Literatures – Contemporary Jewish Women’s Writing in Germany and Austria', a special issue of Modern Languages Open published in June 2020. Her contributions to the field are significant in understanding the complexities of German-Jewish literary narratives and the cultural implications of migration and identity.
