Biography

Gopu Nair is a Teaching Assistant Professor in the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He completed his PhD in Postharvest Processing from McGill University in Canada in 2014, and holds a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Technology in Bioresource Engineering and Agricultural Engineering, respectively. His research interests focus on agricultural operations, including harvesting, drying, storage, and transportation processes, alongside postharvest processing technologies involving microwave, radiofrequency, pulse electric field, and high electric field applications. Additionally, he explores natural fiber bio composites and biomass pre-treatment methods for conversion. Nair has been recognized for his contributions to agricultural research, receiving awards such as the 3rd place Poster Presentation at the NABEC Conference in 2013, and the Walter M. Stewart scholarship for excellence in agricultural research in 2012. His previous teaching experience includes a faculty position at Earth University in Costa Rica, where he taught Agricultural Engineering from 2015 to 2018.
