Biography

Goran Strkalj is an anatomist and biological anthropologist with a PhD from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, obtained in 1996. Before joining the University of New South Wales (UNSW), he worked at the University of the Witwatersrand from 2000 to 2008, Macquarie University from 2008 to 2019, and Flinders University in 2022-2023. He is currently the Discipline Lead for Anatomy, Histology, and Pathology in the College of Medicine and Public Health at UNSW. Goran is affiliated with the Institute of Ethnography of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, the Evolutionary Studies Institute at the University of the Witwatersrand, and the Welcome Trust Center for the History of Medicine at University College London. He has acted as an associate editor for several journals, including the Adler Museum Bulletin, Mankind Quarterly, and BMC Medical Education. His primary research interests involve anatomical sciences education, human biodiversity, and the history of body donation in anatomy education.
