Dr. Goran Torbakov

Biography

Goran Torbakov is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Banking and Finance at Monash Business School, where he teaches a wide range of finance subjects including Foundations of Finance, Corporate Finance, Treasury Finance, and Business Finance. His teaching practices integrate rigorous analytical training with case-based learning to prepare students for financial decision-making, encompassing governance and ethical challenges faced in contemporary business environments. His research interests focus on financial governance, entrepreneurship, and sustainability within complex organizational systems. Goran's doctoral research, completed at Murdoch University, investigated the intersection of entrepreneurship and governance in the Australian aged-care sector, specifically within not-for-profit multicultural service organizations. This research provided valuable insights into leadership, financial stewardship, and innovation that contribute to organizational adaptability and resilience. Besides his academic role, he holds significant governance positions, serving as Chair of Boards for multiple organizations, where he provides strategic oversight and financial governance. Goran’s extensive professional background includes experience in the private sector and high-level government roles, influencing financial policy development and organizational transformation. This diverse experience enriches his academic contributions and allows him to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical insights in finance and governance, promoting sustainable outcomes in complex environments.
