Dr. Gordon Baltuch

Biography

Gordon H. Baltuch, M.D., Ph.D. is an Emeritus Professor at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, specializing in Neurosurgery. He serves as an Attending Neurosurgeon at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and is active staff in the Neurosurgery Section of the Surgical Service at the Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Philadelphia. Additionally, he holds the position of Associate Director at the Parkinson’s Disease Research, Education Clinical Center. Baltuch is also responsible for directing the Functional Stereotactic Neurosurgery Fellowship Program and the Center for Functional Restorative Neurosurgery within the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Pennsylvania. His involvement in education includes serving as Education Officer and CME Officer for the department, where he emphasizes the importance of diversity in the field. He holds multiple degrees, including a B.A. in Biochemical Sciences from Harvard University, an M.Sc. in Biological Sciences from Stanford University, an M.D. and a Ph.D. in Neurological Sciences from McGill University, and a C.P.D. from the Wharton School of Business. His research and clinical focus include operative techniques in epilepsy surgery and functional neurosurgery.
