Biography

Gordon Davis’s research includes historical work on ethical and political metaphysical themes in the works of Hume and Kant, as well as investigations into the applicability of methods and arguments developed by neo-Humean and neo-Kantian philosophers. His current projects explore the prospects for a theoretical synthesis of key elements from the main traditions in contemporary ethical theory, including consequentialism, Kantian deontology, and virtue ethics. He also has a strong interest in applied ethics, especially issues surrounding biotechnology and obligations towards future generations.
