Biography

Gorka Bilbao Terreros (Ph.D., University of Liverpool, UK) joined Princeton University in Spring 2012. His current research focuses on representations of Basque identity in cinema, the European homeland, and the American diaspora. He has a specific interest in the study of collisions between atavistic, intransigent nationalistic archetypes, which were once thought to inhibit alternative identitary forms and transgressive gender roles. He has attempted to challenge these notions in his published articles on modern Spanish and Latin American literature, particularly focusing on the works of Jorge Luis Borges and Miguel de Unamuno. Additionally, he has acted as a reviewer for international journals. At Princeton University, he has coordinated and taught various courses including SPA209 (Spanish Culture Language Cinema) and SPA206 (Legal Business Spanish). He has also served as a Fulbright faculty advisor.
