Govind Kaigala’s research interests focus on microscale fluid control and molecular assay technologies for personalized medicine. He is passionate about translational clinical and medical research, aiming to integrate quantitative analysis in biology and medicine through advancing bioinstrumentation using micro-and nanosystems. He joined the University of British Columbia in the summer of 2022. Before that, he spent 11 years at IBM Zurich as a Principal Investigator, leading a team in Precision Diagnostics. Govind earned his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Oncology from the University of Alberta in 2009, where he developed microfluidic systems for genetic analysis. He also completed an NSERC Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Microfluidics Laboratory at Stanford University's Department of Mechanical Engineering and Urology.
