Grace Jaramillo is a sessional instructor and Honorary Research Associate at the School of Public Policy and Global Affairs at the University of British Columbia, focusing on development issues such as industrial trade policy and the capacities of the Global South to assist vulnerable populations in overcoming poverty. After completing her PhD, she was awarded a SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellowship to study institutional spillovers of Free Trade Agreements in the Americas and spent a year at the Balsillie School of International Affairs at the University of Waterloo. At UBC, she analyzes the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) negotiations. Jaramillo has made significant contributions to public policy analysis methods and authored a chapter in the Oxford Encyclopedia of Public Administration. Her current research interests include trade, investment, innovation, state capacity in the Anthropocene, and risk assessment in climate change adaptation. Previously, she served as the head of the Department of International Relations at FLACSO-Ecuador, one of the largest graduate studies institutions in Latin America, and participated in a Bilateral Dialogue Group facilitated by the Carter Center to promote peace and mediation in a cross-border dispute between Colombia and Ecuador.
