Biography

Grace Talusan is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the English Department at Brown University. She is an accomplished author, recognized with numerous awards for her contributions to nonfiction writing, including the Restless Books Prize for New Immigrant Writing and the Massachusetts Book Award for Nonfiction. In 2022, she received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and United States Artists, and was a Fulbright Scholar in the Philippines. Talusan’s writing spans a variety of topics, including personal and family narratives, immigration, and trauma. Her work has been featured in respected publications such as Creative Nonfiction, Brevity, and the Boston Globe, among others. She aims to cultivate a sustainable writing practice and community through her teaching. Talusan has also been involved with the Nonfiction Writing Program at Brown and previously taught at Brandeis University as a Fannie Hurst Writer-in-Residence. Her expertise encompasses creative nonfiction, memoir, and the exploration of Asian American experiences through literature.
