Professor Graeme Day joined the University of Southampton in 2012. He is a member of the Computational Systems Chemistry research group, where his research focuses on developing computational methods for materials discovery and predicting crystal structures. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Mathematics Computing Science from Saint Mary's University in Halifax, Canada, and completed his Master's degree in Theoretical Chemistry at the University of Oxford. He obtained his PhD in 2003 from University College London and then moved to the University of Cambridge for postdoctoral work. In 2005, he was awarded a Royal Society University Research Fellowship and held the position at Cambridge until 2012. Since joining Southampton, he was promoted to Professor of Chemical Modelling in 2014. He has published 150 papers including five book chapters and is actively involved in the scientific community as an Associate Editor for the Royal Society of Chemistry's journal Chemical Science and on advisory boards for other RSC journals. His research is funded by various institutions including the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council and the European Research Council, focusing on innovative projects in the field of materials discovery.
