Dr. Graeme Findlay

Biography

Graeme combines deep practical experience in major project delivery for the world’s largest companies with academic study of social sciences and practice in leadership development. With over 25 years of experience in project management at BP, BG Group, and Origin Energy, he has delivered executive functions including project direction for multi-billion dollar process infrastructure projects, general management in PMO for Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) mega-project development, and directorship in country entry M&A projects. His professional career is characterized by step-change performance improvements in projects, including safety and schedule recoveries within the Australia Pacific LNG project, achieving a five-fold reduction in the recordable injury rate across 15 million work hours. These recoveries require strong leadership and a focus on technical fundamentals to transform individual and team capability. Graeme graduated from the BP Projects Academy at MIT, and his association with Saïd Business School began after completing the Major Projects Leadership Academy at BG Group. His career aspirations shifted towards coaching and leadership development, leading him to pursue postgraduate research (an MSc) in social sciences through the Consulting Coaching Change Programme, run jointly with HEC Paris. Graeme’s research interests lie in the evolutionary origins of leadership and how insights can be applied in the modern world. He is the author of the book 'Evolve: Exceptional Leaders Leverage Inner Voice of Human Evolution', published by Routledge.
