Dr. Graham Belsham

Biography

Graham John Belsham is a Professor emeritus at the University of Copenhagen with extensive experience in understanding the biology of viruses, particularly those causing significant diseases in animals. His primary research focus has been on viruses that pose major threats to livestock in Europe, including the African swine fever virus, coronaviruses, and foot-and-mouth disease virus. He has developed improved methods for disease control and is actively involved in researching the replication properties of viruses and their effects on host organisms. His recent work also includes projects centered on vector-borne flaviviruses. Over the past five years, Graham has engaged in numerous collaborations at the country/territory level, contributing to shared publications and projects across Europe, Asia, America, and Africa. He utilizes molecular approaches in his research to generate deeper insights into virus behavior and host interactions.
