Graham Forbes completed his BA in Biogeography at York University and earned both his Master's and PhD from the University of Waterloo. Since his hiring in 1993 at the University of New Brunswick (UNB), he has coordinated the Greater Fundy Ecosystem Project, implementing a multi-agency research approach for sustainable landscape management, focusing on forest management and the maintenance of native biodiversity. In 1997, he became the Director of the New Brunswick Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit at the Sir James Dunn Wildlife Research Centre. He has emerged as a science leader in conservation at UNB, recognized with the UNB Merit Award for his contributions to teaching and research, as well as the NSERC Canada Council Synergy Award for his collaborative work with industry. With a prolific publication record and notable graduate students, Graham provides expertise to national and provincial governments on various conservation issues, emphasizing research that supports wildlife biodiversity maintenance, particularly for mammals, birds, and herpetofauna. He collaborates with management agencies such as Parks Canada and provincial departments, and is currently appointed Co-Chair of the Terrestrial Mammal Sub-Committee for the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada. Aside from academia, Graham volunteers as President of the Fredericton Nature Club and engages in public education about the environment, giving talks and leading nature outings for youth groups. He was nominated for the 2014 Alumni Achievement Award.
