Dr. Graham Shipley

Biography

Graham Shipley is an Emeritus Professor at Boston University, affiliated with the Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, specializing in Pharmacology, Physiology, and Biophysics. He obtained his PhD and BSc from the University of Nottingham. His research focuses on the structure-function relationship of cell membranes and receptor-ligand interactions, using a combination of biochemical and biophysical approaches. Current studies involve probing membrane lipid conformation and membrane receptor-lipid interactions, as well as employing techniques such as X-ray diffraction, electron microscopy, and various chromatographic methods. Shipley is actively involved in mentoring graduate students in the Graduate Medical Sciences programs, guiding their research endeavors. He has contributed significantly to understanding the role of glycosphingolipids and has served as a principal investigator for multiple NIH grants.
