Dr. Gráinne Fitzsimons

Biography

Gráinne M. Fitzsimons is the George C. Lamb, Jr. University Distinguished Professor of Business Administration and an associate professor of Psychology and Neuroscience at Duke University. She completed her Ph.D. in Psychology at New York University in 2004 and holds a B.A. from McGill University, Canada, obtained in 1999. Her research focuses on human social behavior, especially on self-regulation and interpersonal relationships, and has been published in leading academic journals such as the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology and Psychological Science. Fitzsimons has contributed to the popular press, with her work featured in outlets like NPR and CNN. She has received several early career awards for her contributions to the field, including the Caryl E. Rusbult Young Investigator Award and the SAGE Young Scholar Award. At Fuqua, she teaches core and elective courses in Leadership, Ethics, and Organizations, as well as Negotiations. Her extensive body of work includes significant insights into goal dynamics and their implications for relationships and motivation.
