Biography

Dr. Grant Wach is a distinguished professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Dalhousie University. He specializes in Petroleum Geoscience, with significant contributions to the fields of Basin Field Analysis, Stratigraphy, and Geologic Reservoir Modelling. Grant earned his Ph.D. in Geology from the University of Oxford in 1991, following a Master’s degree from the University of South Carolina and a Bachelor’s degree with honors in Geography Geology from the University of Western Ontario. He has taught numerous courses focused on the intricacies of Petroleum Geology and related fields, including ERTH 3303: Stratigraphy and ERTH 4153: Petroleum Geology. In recognition of his work, Grant was awarded the prestigious D’Arcy McGee Beacon Fellowship in 2021. Through his research and teaching, he aims to deepen understanding of geoscience, with particular emphasis on reservoir characterization and provenance studies, contributing valuable insights to sustainable energy practices.
