Biography

Gray Thomas is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 2019 and a B.S. in Engineering: Robotics from Olin College of Engineering in 2012. His research focuses on human strength amplification, wearable robotics, force torque feedback, series-elastic actuators, system identification, robust control, and mechanical impedance rendering. Thomas has received multiple awards for his work, including the IEEE ICRA Manipulation Paper Award in 2017 and the IJHR Paper Award in 2016. He was also a recipient of the NASA Space Technology Research Fellowship in 2015 and contributed to the DARPA Virtual Robotics Challenge, winning as part of Team IHMC in 2013.
