Biography

Greg Henry is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Geography at the University of British Columbia. He earned his PhD from the University of Toronto in 1987. His research focuses on understanding the consequences of environmental change, particularly as driven by climate change in Arctic tundra ecosystems through long-term observations and field experiments. His studies involve plant growth, phenology, reproduction, biodiversity responses, biotic interactions, and the evolutionary migration potential of plant species, emphasizing carbon and nutrient fluxes and the effects of permafrost disturbance. He engages with Arctic communities to help northern students interpret environmental changes through shared field experiences and science-based projects.
