Biography

Gregory Kesden is an Associate Teaching Professor at the Information Networking Institute (INI) of Carnegie Mellon University, specializing in software systems, distributed systems, networks, cloud computing, operating systems, and software engineering in the context of forensic computer science. He has extensive experience in teaching a variety of courses including introductory programming, data structures, and advanced undergraduate and graduate systems classes. He has served as the head coach for Carnegie Mellon's internationally renowned programming team, director of regional programming contests, Teaching Assistant Program Coordinator for Computer Science, and Associate Director of the MS in Computer Science program. Before returning to Carnegie Mellon in 2017, he spent 16 years on the faculty of the School of Computer Science at CMU and held the position of Director of Masters Programs in Computer Science Engineering at the University of California San Diego (UCSD). His contributions to teaching have been recognized with the Simon Award for Teaching Excellence and the Habermann Educational Service Award from the School of Computer Science, as well as the ACM Coach of the Year Award.
