Biography

Greg Kondrak is a Professor in the Department of Computing Science at the University of Alberta. He has a strong academic background with a Magister in Computer Science from the University of Warsaw, an M.Sc. in Computing Science from the University of Alberta, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Toronto. His primary research interests include Computational Linguistics and Natural Language Processing, with a focus on sub-word level NLP tasks such as letter-phoneme conversion, transliteration, and morphology. He also investigates lexical semantics, including synonymy and word sense disambiguation, as well as computational cryptography, particularly in decoding unknown scripts and cipher language identification. Since 2002, Greg has been actively involved in teaching and mentoring students in computational methods for secure communications and message encryption.
