Biography

Greg Mruk is a Senior Extension Associate and Executive Director at NY FarmNet, operating within the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management at Cornell University. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a BS in agricultural economics and obtained an MS in administration from St. Michael's College. Mruk has extensive experience in agribusiness management, particularly in agriculture financing within the Champlain Valley region of northern Vermont, where he lived and worked for 30 years. His career has included roles such as county supervisor for the Farm Service Agency and senior executive vice president at a community bank, focusing on agricultural loans. After leaving banking, he operated a small market farm and ran a consulting business to support farmers and small businesses. Mruk is also actively involved in his community, having served on the board of directors for a local hospital, gaining insight into rural families' challenges in accessing healthcare and mental health services. In 2012, he relocated to southern California to manage a 200-acre farm at LA Pierce College, before returning to New York in 2017 with his wife, Dawn, to purchase and manage their own small farm in Dutchess County.
