Biography

Greg Poelzer is a Professor in the School of Environment and Sustainability at the University of Saskatchewan. He holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Alberta, along with a Master's degree in Political Science from Carleton University and an Honours Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Alberta. His primary research interests include renewable energy, particularly in Northern and Remote Indigenous communities, as well as comparative energy policy and energy transitions. Poelzer works on the socio-economic value of community energy development, Indigenous-state relations, and economic reconciliation, negotiating consultations and social licenses to operate within these contexts. He is currently accepting new graduate students and is engaged in developing sustainable futures through energy mineral resources.
