Biography

Greg Ridgeway is the Rebecca W. Bushnell Professor of Criminology at the University of Pennsylvania and specializes in statistical, computational, and analytical methods to enhance understanding of crime and the functioning of the justice system. His research interests include the application of these methods in various practical settings, such as police departments in Cincinnati, Los Angeles, and New York City, as well as with the Federal Public Defender Organizations and drug treatment program evaluations. Prior to his role at Penn, Ridgeway served as the Acting Director of the National Institute of Justice, where he oversaw significant reforms and implemented initiatives related to school safety research programs. He has also directed the RAND Safety and Justice Program, working with numerous criminal justice organizations worldwide. Ridgeway is recognized as a Fellow of the American Statistical Association and has received distinctions for his contributions to crime research. He is also an inventor with eight awarded patents.
