Biography

Greg Savage was initially trained at Monash University in the 1980s, earning his PhD in experimental psycholinguistics. He later developed a strong interest in neuropsychology, undertaking a postdoctoral fellowship at Birkbeck College, University of London. He subsequently completed an MSc in Clinical Neuropsychology at the University of Melbourne, effectively merging clinical practice in psychiatric and neuroscience contexts with neuropsychological research, with a focus on memory and language. In 2007, he assumed a position at the Macquarie Centre for Cognitive Science (MACCS), where he developed a clinical neuropsychology service at the Macquarie University Hospital. Savage served as the Head of Neuropsychology Clinical Discipline at MQ Health from 2016 to 2023 and was the Director of the Clinical Neuropsychology Department from 2012 to 2016, where he managed postgraduate training courses in neuropsychology. He has been a Chief Investigator on the Memory Program with the ARC Centre of Excellence in Cognition and its Disorders from 2011 to 2018. Now retired in 2024, he holds the title of Honorary Professor in the School of Psychological Sciences, continuing his impact on research and education in the field of neuropsychology.
