Dr. Greg Walker

Biography

Greg Walker is a scholar in the field of English literature with a focus on early-modern literature and culture. He has held prestigious roles such as Regius Professor of Rhetoric and English Literature at the University of Edinburgh and previously served as the Masson Professor of English at the University of Leicester. Walker’s research centers on the literature of sixteenth-century England and Scotland, contributing significantly to the understanding of late-medieval and Renaissance drama, and poetry. He has published extensively, including authoritative works such as 'Writing Tyranny: English Literature and the Henrician Reformation', and has co-edited various academic publications covering medieval literature and drama. His involvement in numerous committees and panels, including the Royal Society of Edinburgh’s Research Committee, underscores his commitment to academic governance and the advancement of humanities research. In addition to his teaching duties, he supervises PhD students across diverse topics in early modern and medieval literature, showcasing his dedication to mentoring the next generation of scholars.
