Biography

Gregor Weber is a Lecturer in Applied Geology at the University of Southampton, UK. His research interests include volcanic unrest, the structure and evolution of magma reservoirs, and the mechanics of large-magnitude explosive volcanism. He is actively accepting applications for PhD students and focuses on improving diagnostic methods for forecasting volcanic eruptions through a variety of means, including geological field studies, crystal-scale diffusion kinetics, isotope geochemistry, and numerical modeling of magma dynamics. His current investigations center on the thermomechanical processes within magmatic systems to better understand the origins of precursory signals such as surface deformation and seismicity that precede eruptions. Previously, he held positions as a Research Teaching Associate at the University of Mainz, a Research Associate at the University of Bristol, an SNSF Research Fellow at the University of Oxford, and a PhD Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Geneva, Switzerland.
