Biography

Teaching and practicing concurrently since 2001, Gregory Brooks serves as a Professor of Practice at the University of Texas at Austin, alongside being a design partner at BMH Design Studio. At UT Austin, he is responsible for the two-semester required design studio sequence in the architectural engineering program, which emphasizes preliminary design concepts and multidisciplinary building design. This involves integration of architectural, structural, mechanical, sustainability, and construction systems throughout the design process. He acts as a liaison between the CAEE department and professional firms and directs the UT Study Abroad summer program, 'Emerging Technologies', in London, England and Japan. He founded AEWorldMap.com, a website dedicated to tracking ambitious international architectural projects. Before joining UT, Gregory worked for nationally acclaimed architecture firms for 15 years, including six years at the offices of Charles Moore, FAIA. Throughout his career, he has contributed to the design and construction of 120 buildings, which includes museums, churches, university facilities, office buildings, retail spaces, and private residences. In 2001, he opened his own design firm, specializing in modern homes and small commercial projects. In 2011, he partnered with Patrice Mailloux-Huberdeau to establish BMH Design Studio in Austin, Texas.
