Dr. Gregory Collins

Biography

Gregory M. Collins is a Lecturer in the Program in Ethics, Politics, and Economics at Yale University and serves as the Director of Undergraduate Studies in this program. His scholarly interests encompass political theory, including the intellectual origins of liberalism and conservatism, the philosophical and ethical foundations of capitalism, and constitutional theory and practice. He has authored the book 'Commerce Manners Edmund Burke’s Political Economy,' published by Cambridge University Press in 2020. His academic contributions also include peer-reviewed articles and chapters focusing on prominent thinkers such as Burke, Adam Smith, and Aristotle, as well as topics like political philosophy and taxation. Collins has received several accolades for his teaching and research, including the Lux et Veritas Faculty Prize from the Buckley Institute in 2024 and the Novak Award from the Acton Institute in 2020. He holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Politics from the Catholic University of America and a B.A. in Political Science from UMass Amherst, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa. In his personal life, Collins enjoys spending time with his family and supporting Boston sports teams.
