Biography

Gregory Crawford is a Professor of Economics at the University of Zurich and co-founder and Director of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) Research Policy Network on Competition Policy. From 2014 to 2020, he served as co-Program Director for the CEPR Industrial Organization program. He holds a BS in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania (1991) and a PhD in Economics from Stanford University (1998). Before joining the faculty at Zurich, Crawford held academic positions at the University of Warwick, Duke University, and the University of Arizona. Additionally, he served as the Chief Economist at the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) in the United States, which is responsible for regulating media communications. His research primarily focuses on empirical economics, notably in industrial organization, antitrust/competition policy, and media economics. His interests include antitrust regulation, digital platforms, media communication markets, public service broadcasting, advertising, and vertical integration. Crawford employs empirical methods to analyze these topics and has published numerous policy papers and presentations.
