Biography

Gregory Fairn completed his B.Sc. in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at Dalhousie University, and pursued co-op placements at Novartis and Merck. He earned his PhD at the same university, under the supervision of Dr. Chris McMaster, focusing on yeast genetics, vesicular transport, and lipid metabolism. After his doctorate, he conducted postdoctoral research in Dr. Sergio Grinstein’s lab at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, where he further investigated vesicular transport and organelle function. In the summer of 2012, he established his own lab at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, concentrating on various aspects of vesicular and non-vesicular lipid transport, membrane dynamics, innate immunity, and cell biology. In 2021, Dr. Fairn relocated to the Department of Pathology at Dalhousie University, contributing to the field with significant research in cellular processes and host-pathogen interactions.
