Biography

Greg Henderson received his BA and PhD in Integrative Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, followed by postdoctoral training in Endocrinology at the Mayo Clinic. He is a faculty member in the Department of Nutrition Science at Purdue University. Henderson teaches courses related to nutrition science, physiology, and metabolism. His research lab focuses on lipid metabolism using mouse models of type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance. Specifically, his team investigates the relationship between plasma free fatty acid trafficking and hepatic lipid accumulation in relation to glucose metabolism. This research employs techniques tested on live mice, followed by molecular biology and analytical chemistry-based measurements of tissues. His work aims to discover ways to alter the transfer of free fatty acids to tissues to improve metabolic health.
