Dr. Gregory Hutchinson

Biography

Gregory Hutchinson is an Emeritus Regius Professor of Greek at Christ Church, University of Oxford. He studied at Balliol College, Oxford, and has served as a Fellow and Tutor in Classics at Exeter College. His research interests encompass Latin literature, Greek and Latin poetry and prose, and the intersection of literature with history and archaeology. He has written commentaries on classical authors, including Aeschylus, Polybius, and Propertius, and published works on Cicero's letters and Greek prose-rhythm. Hutchinson has supervised many doctoral and master's students, guiding them in their research on various subjects including Hellenistic poetry and Cicero. His academic contributions and teaching have significantly influenced the fields of Latin and Greek literature.
