I have developed new approaches to functional anatomic magnetic resonance imaging for over three decades. My methods aim to improve the detection and accurate diagnosis of cancer, as well as monitor its response to therapy. I serve as the Director of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Research at the University of Chicago and Co-Director of the Advanced Imaging Program at the University of Chicago Comprehensive Cancer Center. Over the years, I have collaborated with an outstanding mammographic group and medical physics colleagues to build an internationally recognized research program in quantitative breast cancer MR imaging, complementing leading clinical programs in breast cancer diagnosis and management. Additionally, I have worked with Dr. Oto to develop a leading translational research program that focuses on improving prostate cancer screening using MRI. My research includes utilizing pre-clinical methods to study breast and prostate cancer, thereby enhancing our understanding of cancer biology and guiding the development of improved clinical methods.
