Biography

Professor Gregory Korshin obtained a Master’s degree in Physics from Kazan State University and a PhD in Physical Chemistry from Kazan State Technological University, Russia. He has been working at the University of Washington ever since and his research focuses on the characterization of natural organic matter, halogenation reactions that lead to the formation of disinfection by-products (DBPs), and the development of on-line methods to monitor processes affecting water quality. His contributions also delve into corrosion in drinking water and the environmental chemistry of heavy metals and radionuclides. Korshin has published over 150 refereed papers, with a significant number appearing in prestigious journals such as Water Research and Environmental Science & Technology. He has been recognized by various organizations including the Water Research Foundation and the National Science Foundation and has served on the editorial board for Water Research.
