Biography

Greg Penner is a Professor at the University of Saskatchewan, holding the U.S. Centennial Enhancement Chair in Ruminant Nutritional Physiology. His research, primarily focused on ruminant nutritional physiology, has led to the publication of over 110 papers in peer-reviewed journals and the securing of 7.4 million in funding, with 5.1 million as a principal investigator. He has participated in extensive local, national, and international collaborations and has provided 80 invited presentations. Dr. Penner's research areas include forage utilization, beef and dairy cattle nutrition, and the regulation of gastrointestinal function in ruminants. His work aims to promote efficient and sustainable beef and dairy production. He has trained numerous students, including 26 undergraduates, 17 M.Sc. students, 5 Ph.D. candidates, and several post-doctoral fellows, and his students have received significant recognition for their research. His notable awards include the Canadian Society of Animal Science Young Scientist Award (2013) and the Early Career Research Award from the American Society of Animal Science (2017). Beyond research, Greg is involved in teaching and outreach activities, participating in various industry conferences and seminars.
