Biography

Gregory Taylor is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Calgary. He completed his B.A. in English Literature and History at Trent University in 1989, followed by a Bachelor’s in Education in English Literature from Lakehead University in 1991. He then earned an M.A. in Communication Studies from Ryerson Polytechnical University in 2004, and later obtained his Doctorate in Communication Studies from McGill University in 2010. Taylor's research interests include the examination of 5G wireless technology, its implications on rural Canadian broadband, and the associated challenges and potentials of wireless technology in populated regions of Canada. He has been a principal investigator for multiple SSHRC Insight Grants, focusing on Canadian spectrum policy and its impact on technology advancements. Taylor has also engaged with various media publications discussing the intersections of telecommunications and policy, offering insights on both current trends and challenges in the field.
