Biography

Gregory Ward received his PhD in Linguistics in 1985 and is currently a Professor in the Department of Linguistics, Gender & Sexuality Studies, and holds a courtesy position in Philosophy. He began teaching in 1986 and served as Chair of the Linguistics Department from 1999 to 2004. His scholarship has resulted in 180 talks and 75 papers, as well as four books. His research primarily focuses on discourse and pragmatics, with specific interests in pragmatic theory, information structure, and reference.
