Greta Hawes is an Associate Professor and ARC Future Fellow at Macquarie University. Her research focuses on Greek mythology, particularly the ways in which ancient stories were told and adapted in lesser-known contexts. Currently, she is investigating the local nature of Greek myths and how communal storytelling has evolved in response to crises. Greta co-directs MANTO, a digital model that explores how myths have influenced the historical landscape of the Mediterranean. She has a strong background in the historicist writings of ancient myth and has published numerous articles on the interpretation of these myths. Her academic qualifications include a PhD in Classics from the University of Bristol, awarded in June 2011. Additionally, she has served as a Research Associate at the Center for Hellenic Studies and as a Commissioning Editor for the Classical Review. Greta is also actively involved in research student supervision and encourages prospective researchers interested in exploring Greek myths and digital modeling of narrative traditions.
