Dr. Grzegorz Chrupala

Biography

Grzegorz Chrupała is an Associate Professor at the Center for Cognitive Science and Artificial Intelligence at Tilburg University. He previously worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Spoken Language Systems group at Saarland University and earned his PhD from the School of Computing at Dublin City University. His research interests lie in computational models of learning spoken language in rich multimodal settings, focusing on the analysis and interpretation of representations emerging from deep learning architectures. Chrupała's work aims to explore how machines can access structured data across diverse modalities to learn language efficiently, contrary to traditional methods that rely solely on text. He is also active in the research community, serving as an Action Editor for the Transactions of the Association for Computational Linguistics and regularly participating in leading conferences in natural language processing (NLP) and artificial intelligence (AI). He is known for organizing workshops that analyze and interpret neural networks for NLP. His research has received funding from the Dutch Research Council (NWO).
