Guadalupe Escalante Rengifo, winner of the University of Ottawa's Part-Time Professor Year Award for 2024–2025, holds a Ph.D. in History and a master's degree in Public Communication from the University of Puerto Rico, as well as a master's degree in Latin American Cultural Studies and Spanish from the University of Ottawa. He obtained a Bachelor's degree in Social Communication and Journalism from the National University of San Marcos in Peru. He is currently a part-time professor in the faculties of Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Ottawa and is a Ph.D. candidate in Latin American Cultural Studies and Spanish. He also holds a certificate in university teaching. His research interests encompass Latin American colonial and contemporary history, immigration and diversity in Canada, Latino studies, forced migration, cosmopolitanism, human rights, Media Studies, Hispanic literatures and cultures, Spanish language, and the use of technology in the classroom, including Digital Humanities tools for research. He has co-authored a book chapter on the media representation of agricultural workers in Canada during the COVID-19 crisis and has published several articles in academic journals focused on the experiences and narratives of Latin American migrants.
