Biography

Guanjie He is a Professor of Materials Chemistry at University College London (UCL) and an ERC Starting Grant Awardee. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) and a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (FIMMM). Guanjie obtained his PhD from UCL in Chemistry in 2018 under the supervision of Professor Ivan Parkin, and has held various positions including visiting researcher at Yale University and postdoctoral research fellow at UCL's Department of Chemical Engineering. His research interests lie in aqueous energy storage, conversion materials and devices, along with advanced characterization and AI in chemistry. Guanjie has received numerous awards including the 2023-2025 Rising Star Science Award and the RSC Harrison-Meldola Early Career Prize. He has also co-founded a spin-out company to commercialize Zn-based energy storage systems and serves as an associate editor and editorial board member for leading journals in materials chemistry and energy materials.
