Biography

Guannan Qu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University, where he has been since September 2021. He earned his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Tsinghua University in Beijing, China, in 2014, and received his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University in 2019. His research interests include applications of control, optimization, machine learning, and reinforcement learning in power systems, multi-agent systems, and smart cities. He has received various awards such as the Caltech Simoudis Discovery Award, PIMCO Fellowship, Amazon AI4Science Fellowship, and IEEE SmartGridComm Student Paper Award, highlighting his contributions to the field and his commitment to making AI safe and reliable in engineering systems.
